CM is definitely a better coach than what he has shown here.

A few problems in my opinion:
1. Bad luck with injuries. We've had at least 1 key injury each year to our best player (MPJ-2017, Jontay-2018, M. Smith-2019, Tilmon-2020).
2. His assistants are not good. None of them had particularly impressive resumes when hired. Nothing they've shown indicates otherwise.
3. Feeding off #2, recruiting has been bad. Cuonzo is not an offensive coach, so he needs to get talent that can create its own offense. He hasn't been able to do that.
I would also argue our athletic department is a hindrance. I don't think they have enough commitment to the basketball program, and their insistence on playing by the NCAA's rules SEVERELY limits Cuonzo's ability to get real talent.
