SEC has 6 teams ranked in the AP poll out yesterday:

1 SC
10 Miss St
11 Kentucky
12 TAMU
23 Arkansas
24 Tennessee

SEC RPI rankings:

2 SC
13 Miss St
18 Kentucky
19 TAMU
35 LSU
46 Arkansas
55 Vandy
72 Georgia
75 Alabama
82 Tennessee
133 Florida
153 Auburn
163 Missouri
254 Ole Miss

Mizzou non conference opponents RPI:

1 Missouri St
20 Princeton
34 UNI
40 South Dakota
54 Nebraska
68 North Carolina
91 SLU
127 Illinois
162 Green Bay
170 New Mexico
231 Western Illinois
237 UMKC
317 SIU-E

The three non conference wins were against teams ranked 91, 231, and 317 in the current RPI.

Before the season I thought the non conference schedule was soft, as usual under Coach RP, who seems to me to schedule NC games more with an eye to getting to 20+ wins, even when that damages our ability to build a tournament resume worthy of a top 16 national seed and home regional with signature wins. She wouldnt even give the team a “big girls” schedule when Sophie was a junior and senior.

This non conference schedule turned out to be fairly tough, even though we didn’t play a single P5 team currently in the top 50 RPI. I didn’t count on MO State being #1 in the nation in RPI at this point, or Princeton being #20, or UNI being #34. Those mid majors, along with South Dakota, helped give us one of the hardest 20 non conference schedule strength in the country. Of course, you have to win some games to take advantage of that, which is why our RPI rank sits at #163 currently.
