And I agree with you they already have, the 20k question is whether this is a one time perfect storm train wreck of a season, a one year blip before the program instantly rights itself to at least the 20+ win seasons and comfortably making the NCAA tournament every year, which is the level Coach RP slowly, incrementally, brought the program to. Or whether the program is going to decline from this point into something lesser than what we had before, perhaps a team that struggles to get to 20+ wins each year and either barely makes, or misses, the tourney each year.
I think it’s too early to tell. I certainly hope it’s just a one year blip, and RP will have the team back in the 2020-21 season and beyond competing to be in the top 5-6 in the conference. Certainly, on paper, we will be much stronger next year. A starting lineup of Frank, Blackwell, Dickson, Dufficy, and Williams could in theory compete for a top 5-6 finish in the SEC, and that’s not accounting for any contributions from the incoming freshmen, or potential additional transfers. It would be light years better than this years starting lineup (in part of course because we all hope the sophomore versions of Frank and Blackwell will be much improved).
