Which 2 classes are you referring to, specifically?
The sanctions were announced on January 31, 2019. Right before the season started. Not a single 2019 freshman left the team after that. Not one. They all stayed on the team, even with the sanctions looming over the team and the possibility that Mizzou would be banned from 2019 post season play still there (until the appeal froze the clock). Ok, I don’t recall when exactly McKinney and Mitchell left the team. I think it was before 1/31/19. But if it was after, neither said anything about it being because they might not be able to compete in post season play in 2019.
The 2020 class signed their LOIs in November 2018. Not a single one of them has said they are not showing up this fall to play for us. To my knowledge. Has there been a report of this happening that I missed?
Now, certainly it is possible, even likely, that our final 2020 class has been harmed by the specter hanging over the program of being banned in 2020. Some potential transfers targets may have not considered us because of the potential ban. But we don’t know that for sure. No one has come forward publicly and said yeah I wanted to go to Mizzou but the chance of a post season ban turned me off. What has happened, publicly, is that 2 players, Dandola and Chaumont, have actually transferred here, DESPITE the potential of a post season ban.
I find that encouraging.
So what recruiting class has actually been harmed?
