Nice folks is irrelevant. Death is not a penalty cops get to disperse because someone isn’t “nice.
How they raise their kids is of no concern to the cops (though after that event you can safely assume they’ll raise their kids to assume the police want them dead).
Maybe. Maybe not. That, too, is irrelevant.
What is relevant: The cops were called about a suspected theft from the Dollar Store, and that was their response. What was learned after the fact has nothing to do with whether the way they handled it was justified.
