I can’t find specifics, but I know I’ve seen stories about guys whose enrollment clock didn’t follow a typical path and were at least exploring an appeal.

Malik Young is the closest comparison I can find. He started his career in 2013, but his school dropped football before he ever got started, and he withdrew from school. When he was ruled ineligible here (SEC rule), he ended up at Oregon with one year and the ability to petition for one more. He then played that extra year at Fort Hays State, which I believe has the same rules it has to follow (DII, but NCAA eligibility clock rules don’t change by dropping down a level as far as I know). That would mean “enrolled but didn’t actually attend because of extenuating circumstances outside of your control) could be a good case for an exception.

But regardless, I don’t think he should redshirt.
