Yeah even with the reduction in football participation the elitist sport of basketball doesn't have a built in fan base like Football does 40 players+ on a high school team to 10 on a basketball team. The younger generation will be following Video game Athletes before they line up for Basketball.

Gee whiz liz the Ncaa marchmadness has declined last year on cable and was 20% down from the last time it was on CBS....yeah the younger generation is tuning in. And the NBA has taken a ratings dip ...and averaging 1.2 million viewers per game....well that is really crap.

All sports are declining but let's be real basketball isn't going to replace football....
