get us to a final four. I believe Carroll was his nephew and Leo Lyons was a holdover from the Snyder era. Those were the two main reasons we made the elite eight (although Tiller and Taylor were both tough guards). MA recruited some other decent players like Denmon, Bowers and English but none of them were elite recruits. I think the closest thing MA got to an elite recruit in his latter years was Phil Pressey -the son of a family friend. When he left, Denmon and company were seniors with very little in the cupboard - he absolutely failed in the later years as a recruiter.
