I use the example of Dan Gable at Iowa - 16 national championships in 22 years of coaching. He rarely took transfers unless it was a unique situation. The reason was he had guys working their butts off in practice in his system. On one occasion he had a national champion who wanted to transfer and reached out to Gable but Gable didn't take the guy. He won all those championships by getting athletes to buy into his system 100% and believe they could beat anybody.
