Rough start to the post Anderson era.
They are 0-4 to start the season, played a challenging schedule last week and got out scored 49-8. Lost to:
Kentucky 8-0
Oklahoma 17-3
Ok State 13-2
Utah 11-3
After their two very good pitchers from last year transferred to Alabama and Syracuse following Coach Anderson’s departure to Mizzou, their pitching staff consists of 2 freshmen and one returning player who threw a total of 4 innings in 2018.
I have little sympathy for them frankly, after their AD, and new coach, ex-Mizzou coach Jay Miller, blocked their ace from following Anderson here. That’s a rule that needs to be changed, need to prohibit schools from blocking where players transfer to, for any reason. Hofstras reason was simply a temper tantrum, revenge, and pure spite IMO. It didn’t help either that their new coach had been fired at Mizzou, and that his wife had led the effort by the NFCA to sanction EE several years back, something I criticized harshly at the time.
