Tough loss but we will be ok...

UT is fighting just to get in the NCAA tournament. We are in, and fighting to better our seed. There is really no way to make a run at a 4 seed now and home regional, we needed to win out and hope other teams in front of us faltered. A faint hope is if we get at least 2 more top 25 wins in the SEC tournament, but that is not likely.
I still think we will be a solid 6 seed in tomorrow’s ESPN bracketology based on the huge win over Miss St, but we would have been a 5 seed if we had followed that up with a win today. That’s what really hurt about the narrow loss today.
We have a decent shot still at a top 4 finish in the SEC and double bye for the conference tourney, since Kentucky and TAMU have really tough closing schedules. Would have been a great shot though with a win today.
Kentucky has road games at SC and Georgia, plus TAMU and LSU at home. TAMU is at Florida (win), home to Arkansas, home to Tennessee, and at Kentucky. We win a tiebreaker finishing tied with only TAMU, and lose a tiebreaker finishing tied to only Kentucky. Don’t know how we would stand in a 3 way tie.
If we win out in our last 3 games, and TAMU loses to either Tennessee or @ Kentucky, that’s our best bet. If we go just 2-1, we need the Aggie’s to lose to both of them, which is still a good possibility. UK will lose at SC, moving them to even with us in the loss column, then have 3 more tough games to go. Too bad Arky couldn’t close them out today.
At this point the goal is to finish strong and stay out of the 7-9 seed range in the NCAAs, and we set ourselves up for that with the huge upset in Starkville Thursday.
