1) Belichick and Brady are both first ballot hall of famers. Belichick is the best NFL head coach since Joe Walsh. Many call Brady the best of all time.
2) The Chiefs offensive game plan seemed to have Mahomes take deep drops and stay in the center of the pocket. That didn't work. Perhaps we should have rolled Mahomes out more to make him more of a running threat and take advantage of his ability to throw on the run. My sense is our offensive game plan wasn't designed to fully take advantage of Mahomes athleticism.
3) Our defensive game plan was too passive. Needed to be less than read and react and more attack mode.
4) In my view the Chiefs didn't expect this year to go as well as it did. They didn't expect Mahomes to be this good this early (who did?). I suspect they thought they were going to have to wait out Tom Brady for another year (and it turns out that is what happended). You don't make the Marcus Peters trade if you think you are on the cusp of a super bowl. It is a lot easier for Clark Hunt to say I want Peters off the team if the coaches are telling him this could cost you a super bowl. Or at least you focus on getting some one who can play immediately if you think you are going to be in the AFC championship game. I expect the Chiefs to be in more of a "win now" mode this off season. And again, Brady, Rivers, Rothlesberger will all be another year older.
4) Bob Sutton should go ahead and retire. He is going to be 68 years old in about a week. The Chiefs are going to be putting resources into the defense over the off season. Sutton won't coach much longer even if he comes back next season. Better to get a new guy in and let him pick players that fit his scheme.
