that the reason we had to blow up the #6 defense in the nation, BESIDES Pinkel's massive recruiting drop-off and Kul's 'worse than a serial killer' behavior.
Besides those two things was that D-Line Zou just wasn't built for the big-time.
When we hit Auburn and Alabama in Atlanta, welp, D-Line Zou was simplistic and easily steam-rolled.
Thus, we needed, apparently, a more nuanced and sophisticated defense. Something that would keep those holes plugged on runs and DE's in position, as opposed to dropping our pants every play and rushing irresponsibly into the backfield.
That was the sales pitch.
So, as an indicator of progress, we have the 'Bama game this year, where Mizzou did in fact do slightly better than the SEC Championship performances.
Now, can we WIN with this defensive scheme? Can we do MATERIALLY better?
Well, we've certainly taken the losses necessary to fully implement this new scheme.
Whether it's BETTER than D-LINE ZOU or even AS GOOD?
That's where it's 'fingers crossed'...
