As expected, Mizzou softball picked last in the SEC...

preseason coaches poll. Can’t vote for your own team, so 12 coaches voted Mizzou somewhere, and with a total of 15 points (minimum possible is 12 points if every other coach picked us to finish last), looks like 9 coaches likely picked us last and 3 picked us next to last. Here are the results:

2. Georgia
3. Tennessee
4. SC
5. Arkansas
6. LSU
7. Kentucky
8. Alabama
9. Auburn
10. Miss State
11. TAMU
12. Ole Miss
13. Mizzou

Some thoughts. After Florida, I think you could throw the next 8 teams in a basket and not be shocked at what position they finish in. SC and Arkansas used to be permanent residents of the worst 4 teams in the conference, now they are legitimate contenders for a top 4-5 finish in the SEC. Strange to see Alabama and Auburn picked so low. It’s hard to see any of the bottom 4 teams breaking into the top 8-9 in the conference. But something tells me we won’t finish last, and could surprise a lot of people, and by surprise I mean finish somewhere in the 8-10 range in the conference. Maybe that’s wishful thinking.
