Not a lot of info to go on yet so this will change.
Tier 1: Miss State
Tier 2: Kentucky, Tennessee
Tier 3: Missouri, SC, TAMU
Tier 4: Georgia, Auburn, LSU
Miss State looks a notch above everyone else, though I don't see them going undefeated in conference, despite a very favorable road schedule.
Yes, I know UT just barely failed to hold home court against both us and UK, but they have the best overall talent besides MSU.
Every team in the top 3 tiers should make the NCAA tournament, but if everyone starts knocking each other off, I could see the SEC getting just one other top 16 seed besides Miss St. I'm not sold on Mizzou quite yet as a tier 2 team with a good shot at top 4 finish. I'm surprised Porter is contributing what she is so early, if she stays healthy and that continues our chances improve. But let's see how we do in our next 2 games. At Florida today then home against a talented Georgia team. A tier 2 team wins both those games. Losing either would be a big letdown after the big upset in Knoxville.
Georgia is the tier 4 team that could make a move up, but at some point they have to start winning some games against really good teams. Coming close time and again just won't cut it.
I think things will start to sort themselves out in the SEC soon, particularly after each team has 7-8 games under their belts. If we are 7-1 at the halfway point we will be in great shape for a top 4 finish, but that means not getting tripped up against Florida and Georgia, and splitting a tough 2 game road trip at Kentucky and SC. Even 6-2 at the halfway point keeps us in the hunt.
