It's literally the exact opposite of what you described.

Every coach in football tries it.

In fact... I watched that Chiefs game. In that very game... the Ravens went deep on a 2nd and 1 play and the announcer said no surprise, since that's what every offensive coordinator in football will try on 2nd and 1.
