'High end-over-end kick is short. Thomas catches it on the run at the 12. Bounces off a man, pivots and HE'S GOT A SEAM! A great block at the thirty-five, and now only 41, the kicker has an angle...he WON'T GET THERE! - 40-30-20 - THOMAS TO THE HOUSE!!! What a start to the season for the Tigers here at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyoming. Jeff Thomas wastes no time and the Tigers are on the board!'
'We knew he was good, the coaches have talked about his speed, but seeing it here in person you really get an understanding that this guy has another gear.'

'Well the defender makes one step toward the line of scrimmage at the snap, the safety was spying Bryant and that left the middle of the field wide open. You just can't make mistakes like that against an athlete as gifted as Thomas - he'll make you pay and that's exactly what happened there.'

After another three and out Matthes awaits the snap - a low, line drive kick is scooped by Thomas at the twenty-eight, he HAS ROOM! Thomas angling toward the sideline and it's OFF TO THE RACES! He's down to the Mountaineer 32 yard-line, almost broke that last tackle, but still, the Tigers with great field position for the first time in this game.'

'Bryant fakes to Rountree, turns and hands off to Thomas - JET SWEEP RIGHT! and Thomas HAS SOME ROOM! Down the sideline to the 40, 50 - he cuts between two defenders who get tangled up AND THEY'RE NOT GOING TO CATCH HIM! 30-20-10-HOUSE TOUCHDOWN JEFF THOMAS!!!!'
'My oh my he made several defenders look silly on that play and on a day that so far has been tough for Thomas on the receiving end he lights up the Gamecocks for sixty-three yards. Credit Derek Dooley for finding a way to get him in this game.'

The Tigers came out at halftime down 24-21 with this huge GA crowd was ready to play the twelfth man and Jeff Thomas has just returned a kick 98 yards for a touchdown and now you could hear a pin drop. With that extra point the Tigers make it 28-24 and they are in this thing here in Athens, GA.'

'You know it's never fair to compare one player to another because they all have unique talents and the individual impact they have on the game is just that - but at this point I'm calling the contributions of Jeff Thomas Marcus Murphy-like - and I mean that in all the good ways I can mean it - just multi-talented and impacting not just special teams but the offense too - what a game changer Thomas has been for the Tigers.'
