I will be more than a little disappointed if we are a 7 seed in Sophie's senior year. I don't think a 4 seed and home regional is out of the question, although there is little evidence so far that we can achieve that. Lots of games yet to play. Getting Garner back healthy will help, and getting some consistant production from the newer players like Berg, Troup and Levy is crucial.
To make a push for a national seed we really need to go undefeated the rest of the way in our non conference schedule and hit the SEC portion at 12-2, which should have us ranked somewhere around 20 in the polls, give or take. Our current RPI rank as of Monday was 65, but that is pretty worthless to look at after only 7-8 games have been played. I'd start paying attention to RPI around Jan 1 to see if we are in a decent position to make a run at a seed.
We need to be at 12-2 though after non conference games because our first 7 SEC games are brutal. 3 winnable home games against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Georgia (GA will be tough), and a winnable road game against Florida, but 3 killer road games: Tennessee, SC, Kentucky. There is every chance we could be playing well and still start SEC play 4-3. Would be great to pick off one of those tough road games and start 5-2. Our last 9 SEC games are easier overall, despite a road contest and certain loss at Miss State.
