one, you want to be good against the run because you might get lucky and the opponent have a bad day in the passing game. If you're bad against the run, they'll just demoralize you all day.
A lot of our problems in the passing game over the years have clearly been schematic. Yes, we have lesser talent than some of the top programs. But that does not impact the issues of soft coverage or simply choosing not to cover guys up the seam that we've seen repeatedly over the years through different staffs and different talent levels in the backfield.
We definitely get beat back there more than we'd like, but we simply choose not to cover guys just as often or even more.
