I think it's a combination of several factors....less students,changing demographics and some Parents are over protective and Yes will allow their children to grow up as Beta males.
On the flip side those same parents will let them drive all over creation and shrug off underage drinking and drugs as a coming of age thing that everyone does....those are two real world activities that are much more dangerous than football and both activities clearly can have longer lasting effects than a concussion or two.
And in reality if you look at Fatality rates..per participation football only ranks 4th on deadliest high school sports Behind gymnastics,water polo,and Boys Softball...Yep Boys Softball. So beware the SOFTBALL.
