Some might say that Smith peaked as a freshman. Once the blueprint was developed to defend him, by keeping him in the pocket, he had a lot of really bad games. Smith was a little like Lock in that he rolled up big stats against bad competition but shrank from the moment when it mattered most. The key to Lock’s legacy will be reversing that this year.
