"Consistent with" is simply correlation analysis and any mathematician worth his salt will tell you that regression analysis (the next step beyond correlation analysis) is required to establish causation. So your use of "consistent with" to suggest global warming causes higher ocean temperatures and that in turn causes more severe hurricanes won't pass peer review.
