I agree with Maher and others who say that Berkeley and others should not block speakers like Shapiro and Coultergeist at on campus events. But, the students have every right to go to Shapiro's and Coultergeist's events and exercise their first amendment rights of free speech.

The health care thing is nonsense. We have by far the most expensive health care system in the world and that system does not deliver the best results. Not by a long shot. While I'm not sure Medicare-for-all is the correct answer (European systems are somewhat different), it would be far better and cost less overall than what we have now.

Remember that until 1973, health care in this country was exclusively non-profit. Our health care was better overall then, and much cheaper per capita.

You can thank Nixon (and Ted Kennedy to a lesser extent) for the soaring cost of health care.
