that every cop should have insurance just like docs and if they fck and hurt people outside the confines of their normal work, that the insurance cover it.

I suggest that if you shoot somebody like many have done - you can certainly be charged with murder, but regardless of the outcome of the trial - you have hearing and face the immediate loss of your job and all rights to a pension.
