Yes, your boss can fire you for what you say. The government may not be able to imprison you, but companies can and will make employment decisions based on how you choose to behave. This is true of the NFL and also Fred's Bait & Tackle Shop. If you decide to do things that alienate customers, you won't likely last long. And that is not a First Amendment issue.
