In spot-up shooting drills, Clarkson made 70 percent of his attempts, compared to 64.0 percent for Brown. While on the move or off the dribble, Clarkson shot 68.6 percent, compared to 61.1 percent for Brown.
Shortly after the season ended, Clarkson teamed with skills coach Drew Hanlen to fix his flaws before NBA scouts could examine him in private workouts.
"We lifted his elbow higher,” Hanlen said. “We lifted his release point. We changed the balance on his jump shot so he’s jumping straight vertical instead of tucking his knees up. We also lifted his balance hand, his non-shooting hand, just to go in an upward motion.”
The result: A softer shot with more arc.
“Every team that I’ve talked to has said he’s been super impressive and knocking down shots,” Hanlen said.
