game and it not count against their redshirt. This was implemented due to the growing number of players opting out of bowls.

I think it was within 1 year that they made the rule that you could play in 4 games....at any rate this rule came very soon after the bowl game rule.

I am not positive, but it's possible that the 4 game rule over-wrote the bowl game rule and was not in addition to.
