modeling agencies work for brands to find models that those brands can use in different ways (advertising campaigns, trade shows, events, etc.). the modeling agency is in charge of lining up all those brands and then making a connection. that's pretty much it. the bigger their roster of brands and the bigger those brands' marketing budgets are, the bigger that modeling agency is.

collectives do the same. they line up companies (or donors) with different needs, and they connect them to players. some of those companies may want to put someone's face on their bag of chips. some may want them to come and sign autographs at a corporate event. some may want them to simply tag their organization in a few social posts. the actual work or use of the athlete's likeness can run the gamut.

but like a modeling agency, a collective isn't doing ANYTHING with the model / athlete. they're simply making connections.
