integrated. The same could be said about Mizzou. The Tigers became competitive in the 60's only after Frank Broyles recruited the first black players in the late 50's.
Remember the lesson that Bear Bryant gave Bama fans when he scheduled USC with Sam "Bam" Cunningham to illustrate the point that integrated teams were far superior to segregated teams. USC physically dominated Bama in that game, and Sam looked like a man among boys. Mizzou proved that point to Bear in the '68 Gator Bowl, but Bear needed to demonstrate that fact in front of a home brows.
I discount all wins in any noncompetitive segregated conferences like the SWC and the SEC, especially when those segregated teams conveniently refused to play integrated teams. Most of those early Tennessee's wins are suspect.
